Jason Kolàr:
For over 15 years, Cristian Subirà has been an active member of Barcelona’s underground music scene. His contributions range from organizing DIY shows, releasing tapes, and performing in bands to adopting various aliases (Summer Recreation Camp, Nubian Deli, Venessa Milano, and Tim Robertson), as well as
co-founding dublab’s satellite station in the city.
With a repertoire exceeding 150 solo live performances across Europe, the United States, and Japan, Subirà has shared stages with notable acts including Daniel Higgs, Julianna Barwick, The Space Lady, Ariel Kalma, Cole Pulice, DNTEL, Zbigniew Karkowski, White Magic, GOAT, H. Takahashi, and Maria Minerva, and
has appeared at prominent festivals like Sonar, Atonal Berlin, Meakusma, Grec, Primavera Club, LEM, Milhoes de Festa, and Baleapop.
Subirà’s sonic explorations traverse the realms of ambient, Fourth World, and generative music, often intertwining them to construct a porous bridge between genres. His final compositions reflect the profound influence of luminaries such as Brian Eno, Roedelius, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Vini Reilly.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Subirà has served as a radio host for Dublab for more than a decade, while also contributing special recordings to platforms like Kiosk, NTS, We Are Various, The Word, Operator, Red Light Radio, and Berlin Community Radio.
